18.11. – 6.12.2023 Your Finnish Friends together with the Association of Ukrainians in Finland brought a Russian T72B3 tank that was destroyed in Ukraine to Kansalaistori in Helsinki. Ukrainian forces destroyed the tank in question near Kiev on 31 March 2023.
The purpose of the exhibition was to remind people of the ongoing war in Europe. Thanks to the defense of Ukraine, functioning Russian tanks do not appear on the streets of Finnish cities bringing fear and destruction.
The exhibit attracted great media attention and discussion. As a result, Finland also received a note sent by the Russian government. Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen commented on the incident by stating:
Finland is a free and open society, where you can show support for Ukraine and show people the horrors of war.
Russia itself is to blame for the fact that the western world has politically severed its relationship with Russia, due to Russia waging an illegal war of aggression in Ukraine. Ukraine not only has the opportunity but also an obligation to defend itself, and we have the right according to the UN Charter to help Ukraine in their defensive battle.
