"Lassie" is a young Finnish medic serving in Eastern Ukraine.
The picture is of Lassie's helmet, on which he has marked the wounded he has saved from the front line. At the time of the photo there were a total of 32, now probably more.
Lassie is one of the dozens of Finnish volunteers who have gone to help the Ukrainian armed forces after Russia illegally and brutally invaded Ukraine in February 2022. Several Finns have been wounded in these operations, some seriously.
Your Finnish Friends has supported Lassie's group by supplying significant amounts of medical equipment. Hemostatic and pressure gauzes intended to stop massive bleedings are quickly consumed products in the conditions of Ukraine, and require constant replenishment.
